TRM-ALOS "Any Liquid" Optical Sensor

TRM-ALOS is the newest member of the "hockey puck" family of TRM liquid sensors.  The liquid sensing mechanism for this probe is a conical optical prism that projects a few mm below the bottom surface of the puck.    Encapsulated within the probe is an LED and photo-transistor.   If the probe tip is surrounded by air, the light from the LED is reflected back to the photo-transistor.   But if liquid comes into contact with the probe tip. light is scattered and the photo-transistor switches to the alarm state.

The output of the TRM-ALOS is a 5V logic signal that is high when the sensor is dry and low when the sensor is wet.   TRM-ALOS should be monitored by a TRM-Easy5-Relay or Panel or can be directly monitored by the new TRM-Wall-Alarm or other monitoring devices that can accept a 0-5Vdc logic signal.

Virtually any liquid that reaches the probe tip will trigger the TRM-ALOS.  Activation height is less than 1 mm.    The hard rubber sensor body and the polysulfone optical sensor are resistance to many common industrial liquids including fuels, oils, water, glycol coolant, acids, bases and many (but not all) solvents. The sensor does not differentiate between liquids.   Do not install the sensor in an area where water can routinely collect.(i.e. not recommended for wet sumps)

Sensor body is 3" in diameter and 1" thick.  Weight, without cable is about 6 oz.
